Embedded Bearing RTDs & Thermocouples

The new Embedded line offers sensor operating temperatures to +250º F (+120º C) with cabling rated to +500º F (+260º C) continuous, allowing the cable to cross hot spots in the environment. The sensor elements meet standard tolerance specifications for Class B elements per IEC 751-1995 and DIN 43760:1980.

 

BLUE PETER Series® bearing RTDs and Thermocouples are designed to
monitor temperature of embedded bearings critical to machine performance in industrial rotating equipment.

          

The most reliable indicator of bearing condition is the temperature of the

metal beneath the bearing shoe. Rising temperatures indicates the
breakdown of the lubricating oil film. Quick identification of this condition
allows machine shutdown and maintenance to occur before catastrophic
failure of the bearing itself. Typical applications for bearing sensors in-
clude motors, turbines, pumps, gear boxes and other journal bearing
pedestals.

sensors are available with 100ohm platinum RTD sensors, 0.00385 ohm/ohm/ºC, in 2-, 3- and 4-wire single element configurations. Common construction options include:

 

            • 24 AWG Teflon®-insulated, stranded, silver-plated copper wire within an extruded Teflon jacket

            • 24 AWG Teflon-insulated, stranded, silver-plated copper wire with Teflon wrap and stainless steel overbraid within an extruded Teflon jacket

            • 26 AWG Teflon-insulated, stranded, silver-plated copper wire with Teflon wrap and stainless steel overbraid within an extruded Teflon jacket

 

Standard sheath material is 316 stainless steel. Case diameters range from 0.187 to 0.275 inch to accommodate various bearing housing designs. Standard overall length is 36 inches, with ¼ exposed leads/wire. Thermocouple configurations are also offered.
